Help Stop the Spread of Misinformation

Black communities are constantly flooded with misinformation on social media in the form of hoaxes, false claims, and flat out lies. With the simple click of a button — a like, a share, a comment — fake and harmful info in your newsfeed can spread out of control.

The Truth Check Training gives you the skills you need to spot false and fraudulent information. Protect your social media timeline from fake news.

The Truth Check gives participants the social media fact-checking skills needed to address misinformation, especially as it relates to COVID-19 and the vaccines.

Award-winning actress, activist and black-ish star Jenifer Lewis joined the Truth Check campaign because she's tired of the misinformation being directed toward the Black community.

Truth Check, a national campaign of The Center for Black Health & Equity that’s being led in Wisconsin by Jump at the Sun Consultants, the Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network and Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Poverty Network, was the focus of the virtual event, “Honor, Restore, and Protect Black Health.”

More than 160 individuals turned out virtually on Feb. 23, to get tips on how to identify and put a stop to deceptive information that spreads like wildfire on social media, and instead share vetted information that others can trust.
