As the administrator of the Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network (WAATPN) and the Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Poverty Network (WTPPN), JATSC is responsible for directing, implementing and evaluating community initiatives that function to address tobacco disparities. Under Ms. Lathen's direction, these state-funded tobacco networks have effectively attracted and engaged community residents and stakeholders in its mission.
JATSC has demonstrated leadership in mentoring medical and public health students, community health workers and residents. The firm has administered studies and subsequent action plans related to menthol tobacco, single cigarettes, smoke-free public housing, and tobacco retailer density.
The findings of several WAATPN and WTPPN projects have been published in peer-reviewed articles and presented at state and national conferences.
